Edko’s SafeTrim service is a high-performance solution for maintaining wire zone clearance and improving system reliability—delivered through both ground-based equipment and advanced drone application. As an early innovator in this space, Edko was first to market with drone-based tree trimming in 2015, bringing a safer, more efficient alternative to traditional mechanical methods. Our approach targets vegetation during the active growing season, selectively managing growth along rural distribution and transmission lines to protect critical infrastructure.

Bringing Solutions to the Wire Zone

This method is one of the most powerful tools within an Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) strategy due to its ability to deliver broad impact at a significantly lower cost than conventional trimming. On average, chemical tree trimming can address 60–70% of vegetated miles while being up to three times more productive than mechanical operations. By reducing the need for bucket trucks and chainsaw work, we minimize worker exposure, lower emissions, and decrease overall site disturbance—making it an ideal solution for environmentally sensitive areas, including habitats for protected species.
